The ASP Mk 3 r/c 25 is now an acceptable motor for this racing class.
Group one qualifying time is now 330 seconds.
Group 2 qualifying time is now 360 seconds.
Club 2000 Rules
The average club flyer should be capable of flying this type of model both at their local field and at an organized race meeting.
This class is intended to introduce you the club flyer to the exciting sport of pylon racing.
Group system.
At a normal race meeting you will get seven races. your best four times are added together to give an aggregate total. As a newcomer you start in group 3. When you attain an aggregate time of less than 360 seconds you are elevated to group 2. You are then no longer eligible for group 3 championship points or the group 3 final. When you attain an aggregate time of less than 330 seconds you become a group 1 flyer and are only eligible for group 1 championship points and the overall semis and final.
Rules have been kept to a minimum and are as follows :-
Club 2000 Model Dimensions and Rules
Flying rules and course size shall be the same as Club 20
1, Fuselage.
1-1 The motor bulkhead shall be a minimum of 2 1/4" X 2 1/4"
1-2 Cross section measured at the wing trailing edge shall be a minimum of 2 1/4" X 2 1/4"
1-3 The fuselage at the deepest point shall measure a minimum of 2 1/4" wide X 3 1/4" deep, including the wing section and shall occur somewhere between the wing cord.
1-4 Wing fairings, fillets or motor cowlings are not allowed.
1-5 Maximum radius of the fuselage corners will be 1/4"
2 Wing
2-1 The wing shall have a minimum span of 35" and shall be a constant cord.
2.2 The minimum wing thickness shall be 7/8" for the 35" span.
2-4. The minimum wing area shall be 300 sq. inches.
3 Motors.
3-1 The only allowable motors will be Magnum 25 R/C, Thunder Tiger Pro 25 R/C, Leo25 R/C, SC 25 R/C, ASP 25 Mk 3 R/C or Irvine 25 R/C.
3-2 The motor must be fitted with the manufacturers supplied R/C carburettor and standard expansion muffler.
3-3 Motors may not be tuned or modified and can only be repaired using standard replacement parts.
3-4 The motor must be capable of being throttled to tick over on demand.
3-5 The motor must be fitted with a rounded spinner nut or a 1 1/2" minimum diameter plastic spinner.
3-6 Metal motor mounts or backplate mounts are not allowed.
4 Weight
4-1 The all up ready to fly minimum weight, excluding fuel shall be 2 1/4 pounds.
5.Propellor
5-1 The only allowable propeller is a Radio Active Manufacturing 9 X 6.
6. Radio
6-1 The model will have a minimum of three channel radio controlling Ailerons, elevator and throttle.
The above rules have been purposely kept to a minimum and as simple as possible.
Whilst they may be open to misinterpretation, any decision regarding infringement of the rules will be at the discretion of the acting contest director.
COURSE DIMENSIONS:
Course size is 120 ft between base pylons and 380 ft from the base pylons to the
No.1 pylon. The start to be 60ft from the base pylons (see diagram on last page)
The four launching positions will be marked at 15ft intervals along the start
line center to the course. The pylons should be a minimum of 15ft high and
surmounted by a 2ft square flag, the top of the No1 pylon should be above the
horizon if possible. A sighting pole is to be positioned adjacent to the No.1
pylon at 90 degree to the center line of the course. Four timekeepers will
position themselves along the base line between No. 2 and 3 pylons. Four flag
marshals will be positioned at the No1 pylon to signify to the pilot when he has
reached the pylon or if he has come inside the pylon. The No1 pylon flag
marshals will use a "cut board" to signify a cut at the No.1 pylon. A
starter and flag marshals for the base pylons will also be employed. Course
layout is therefore a long triangle and should be set with the wind blowing from
the No1 pylon towards the base pylon. The method of flying the course will be
anti clockwise. It is the responsibility of the contest director to ensure the
accurate positioning of the base pylon marshals relative to the flight path of
the models.
